A geotechnical investigation was performed for the replacement of Eagle Mill Road Bridge over Little Falls. The bridge is single-span with a length of about 30 feet. Test borings (soil and rock) were drilled at the abutments and streambed for the foundation design and scour analysis. Laboratory testing was performed to determine the classification and grain size of the soils. The foundation requirements for the bridge were evaluated for both shallow and deep foundation types, depending on the depth of scour.
Lab Testing:
- Classification
- Grain Size
- Determining most suitable foundation type for calculated depth of scour.
